Natural Scenery of Japan

For travel and tourism, Japan is most famous for its distinctive traditional culture and arts, maginificent temples, and quirky modern city life. But Japan's natural beauty equals its cultural splendor and modern wonders. As a mountainous island nation in the northern hemisphere, Japan is blessed with stunning coatlines, Alpine mountain ranges, cascading waterfalls, abundant rivers, active and dormant volcanoes, hot springs, terraced rice fields, flat hay and dairy pastures, dense centuries' old forests, beaches and coral reefs. Such amazing natural diversity is found in few countries in the world. Enjoy these photos from my extensive travels around Japan during my 6 years of living in Kyoto, Japan's ancient capital.
